ECOWAS War on Niger Republic Ahead of the looming war in the Nigerian neighboring country, Niger Republic, one of the citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from the Northern state, Professor Usman and has belittled decision by the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to deploy its stand-by force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger.
Professor Usman Yusuf stated this in an interview with the African Independent Television (AIT), recently.
According to Professor Usman Yusuf, the war against the military coup plotters in Niger Republic is closely a war against the Northern part of Nigeria. He also regarded the was as [administrative] n*nsense. He opined that traditional rulers, Clerics and everybody in the nineteen northern states is not in support of the needless war against Niger Republic.
"We in the North bear close proximity of this n*nsense they’re trying to do, that we disagree with vehemently. Traditional Rulers, Clerics, Everybody in the North is against this misguided war, because there is no need for that," Prof. Usman Yusuf stated.
Recall that the Round Table reported that the ECOWAS has declared war on the Niger Junta after rising from its second special conference on issues related to the military coup in Niger Republic. ECOWAS resolved to deploy its stand-by force against the Niger coup plotters after the Niger Junta had denied peaceful dialogue.
