Unknown Fact About Tinubu's Visit to Ogun State

Unknown Fact About Tinubu
Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Awujale of Ijebu-land Oba Sikiru Adetona
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has chosen Ogun State to be the first state he paid a visit to, aside from his visit to his country's home state, Lagos.

Many people have been reacting to the President's choice of visiting the state, most especially when he has no official assignment at the State, as at the time of the visitation.

Sincerely thinking about it, one could feel surprised as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu picked Ogun State as his first official state to be visited, but there are at least two scenarios that occurred during the presidential contest which may have cordial meaning to President Tinubu's choice of visiting Ogun State to show appreciation to whomever that could be responsible for his victory in the presidential contest.

To be fair to one another, the odds were at their peak with many loyalists of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu shivering over the possible stance of Tinubu losing the contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket.

The fear was lifted immediately after Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Ogun State, released a fearful statement that reminded former President Muhammadu Buhari how he (Tinubu) led the war for him to become President of Nigeria. Recall that former President Muhammadu Buhari was speculated to be allegedly standing against the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu speaking in Ogun State during the APC presidential primary contest stated that Muhammadu Buhari contested for the presidential seat of Nigeria three times and lost. Buhari was even crying after losing the third contest. Tinubu said he went to Buhari and assure him that it was time for him to win (in 2015). Buhari contested and won.

Tinubu claimed that he had never requested anything from Buhari's administration since he was the President of Nigeria. Tinubu said, Now, I have told them that it is our turn, and if we look within ourselves, it is me. It is my turn.

The statement released by Tinubu in Ogun State brought about a great change in the contest for APC presidential ticket which was won by Bola Ahmed Tinubu. There could be more to the location, the timing, and the statement which may form part of Tinubu's decision to pay a visit to the state.

Besides, Tinubu after winning the presidential ticket of APC faced fierce presidential with many people he helped to power using their power against his ambition.

Tinubu, some days before the presidential election, went to Ogun State again to release another statement that reset the political configuration of the nation, and most probably worked in favor of election victory at the presidential poll.

Recall that Tinubu, in Ogun State a few days before the February 25th presidential election, accused President Muhammadu Buhari's administration of enabling anti-people policies which were aimed at turning the nation against his party, APC.

Tinubu said, "Even if you hoard petroleum, and change the color of the naira, people will trek to the voting points, cast their votes and I will win".

Although Bola Ahmed Tinubu was very careful in his hits, he would not mention Buhari's name except because it was too indispensable, it was known by everyone that the hoarding of petroleum which lead to scarcity of fuel, during the election period and deployment of the cashless policy by the central bank of Nigeria are all means that meant to demarket the chances of Tinubu at the presidential poll, and they wouldn't be possible without an endorsement by former President Muhammadu Buhari who was the President, then.

Looking at the two scenarios that took place in Ogun State during Tinubu's aspiration to become Nigerian President, and the outcome of the election, there could be more unknown facts to Tinubu's choice of paying Ogun State his first official visit to any State in Nigeria.

To buttress the support he received from Ogun State, during his visit to Ogun State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu told Awujale of Ijebu-land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II, that "You're no longer the father of NADECO, you're now the father of the President..."
