Stop Failing Like Your Predecessors, Governor Told Senators

Senate Ad-hoc Committee on East/West Roads and Eleme Corridor has paid a visit to the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara who received them at the State Secretariat in Port Harcourt.

East/West Roads has been a vital road network in Nigeria connecting the commercial headquarters of the West African sub-region, Lagos, to the eastern city of Calabar with link up to the commercial cities of Port Harcourt and Warri. East West Road is about 188Km long, with its first phase requiring not lesser than 31 bridges with length varying from 31m to 850m.

East West Road has since suffered receiving utmost attention from Nigerian government, not even when a son of the soil former President Goodluck Jonathan was at the helm of affairs.

Receiving the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on the East/West Road and Elemo-Ogoni Corridor led by Senator Adams Oshiomole in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara urged the Senate members to be patriotic and success oriented in the course of facilitating the reconstruction of the road network.

Admonishing them, Governor Fubara stated that "It was fundamental to appeal to you not to end in assessment, public hearing and submitting report as it used to be, but to go a step further by recommending urgent reconstruction of the road that provides access to major national assets and investments.
