The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun on Friday, March 21, directed the immediate deployment of supplemental Police officers to Rivers State.

The IGPs directive follows the recent declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State and suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other voted officers by President Bola Tinubu.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed the IGPs decision is aimed at providing reformed security to the people of Rivers State and Nigeria at huge.

Adejobi reported the Police personnel in the state will work with the officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other sister agencies to maintain law and order in Rivers.

Residents of the state have further been urged to go about their routine activities and ensure they do not engage in actions that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.



Also individuals with criminal intentions have been urged to stay away from Rivers State.

“The Nigeria Police Force emphasises that aggrieved individuals retain the right to seek legal redress through the appropriate judicial channels. Consequently, any attempt to exploit the situation through unlawful gatherings, demonstrates, or activities to disrupt public peace will be met with the full mass of the law. Citizens are adviced to continue law-abiding, agree with all legal directives, and remain their daily activities without fear.

“The Nigeria Police Force continues steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace and security. Members of the public are endorsed to abide vigilant and promptly say any suspicious activities that may compromise public safety,” Adejobi revealed.
