Charles Soludo
The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo, has transmitted to the Anambra State House of Assembly, a letter requesting approval for the state government to burrow N2 billion.

The request for the approval of the N2 billion loan was contained in a letter read on the floor of the house by the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze.

The letter further stated that the loan would be shared among the residents of the state as palliatives to cushion the effects of the oil subsidies removal by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The letter which was dated December 18, 2023, stated that the Federal Government of Nigeria will repay 52 percent of the loan, while the state government will repay the balance of 48 percent.

In a related development, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu sworn in a new member of the House, Justice Azuka of the Labour Party who was declared by the court after the sacking of Douglas Egbuna of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as the lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency I of the state.

Recall that the judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on November 25th, 2023 upheld the judgment delivered by the Tribunal which nullified the election of Douglas and declared Justice Azuka as the duly elected lawmaker representing Onitsha North I state Constituency.
