Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar In the circulation is the rumour that the incumbent Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu is not enjoying cordial relationship with the Sultanate Council and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar.
The peddling of the rumoured-crisis between the emirate palace and the State Government was not unconnected with the recent order given by Governor Ahmad Aliyu that all chieftaincy appointments lately made by his immediate predecessor, Wasiri Tambuwal be suspended.
This affects all the appointment recently made to fill vacant positions in the emirate council, alongside dozens of appointments into the civil service position of Permanent Secretaries and Directors.
However, reacting to the rumored dispute between tye palace and the state Secretariat, Abubakar Bawa who is the Press Secretary to Sokoto State government disregard the rumour and cleared air that tye relationship between the palace and his principal, Governor Ahmad Aliyu is cordial.
In a statement obtainable by the Round Table, Abubakar Bawa stated that the rumour is untrue and baseless.
Abubakar Baba's statement reads in parts:
"The attention of the Sokoto State Government has been drawn to a dastarldy rumour circulating that all is not well between the State Government and the Sultanate Council.
"The Sokoto State Government hereby debunks the said rumour and is duly informing the public that the story is untrue, false, baseless and unfounded.
"The four-day old administration of Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto enjoys a mutual, harmonious and cordial relationship with the sultanate council.
"We also want to emphatically state here that the state Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, fcna respects the reverred institution and also has so much respect and regard for the Sultan of Sokoto.
"To further buttress our point that all is well between the state government and the sultanate council, is the fact that Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar was the first leader to congratulate the Governor immediately he was announced winner of the March election.
"The Sultan sent a high-powered delegation of Senior Councillors to congratulate the new Governor on his victory and we will ever remain grateful for this uncommon act of comradeship.
"The mischief makers who are the failed authors of the purported story of a so called sour relationship between the state government and the sultanate council also capitalized on the recent suspension of all the appointments of traditional rulers done by the Tambuwal-led government few days to the expiration of its tenure.
"The State Government wants to make it category clear that the suspension of those appointments was not in any way meant to downgrade or demean the Sultan or the Sultanate Council.
"It is important to let the public know that, the appointment of these traditional rulers was done along side twenty seven permanent secretaries and seventeen Directors General a week to the expiration of Tambuwal led administration
"The State Government's plan to review those appointments is to ensure that what was done is in line with public interest.
