Opay Recently, Opay, a leading fintech company in Nigeria, mandated all its users to update their accounts with their National Identification Number (NIN).
The decision reached by Opay is in the move to ensure solid security of its payment platform, and compliance with the directives given by the Central Bank of Nigeria for every financial institution to complete the Know Your Customers (KYC) processes of their customers.
The NIN is a unique platform keeping track of the identity of every citizen, including their biometrics and addresses.
Opay and other financial institutions are mandated to compel their customers to link their accounts to their NIN and their bank’s Biometric Verification Number (BVN).
However, in the course of linking some Opay Accounts to the NIN, customers face difficulty as the process fails during the verification stage.
There are three major reasons for the failure to successfully complete linking your NIN to your Opay account, and solutions to these are common.
One of the major reasons your NIN is failing to successfully link to your Opay account is that there may be discrepancies between the first name, other names, gender, or date of birth you used to register your SIM with your service provider and the first name, other names, gender or date of birth used to register your NIN.
Also, if there are discrepancies between the first name, other names, gender, or date of birth you used to register your BVN and the first name, other names, gender, or date of birth you used to register your NIN, attempt
to link your NIN to your Opay account will still fail.
The solution to the two causes of the failure to link your NIN to your Opay account is simple and common, all you need to do is to choose which information is correct among the information present in your profile with the SIM Registration, BVN, and NIN registers.
Once you are done with the choice of which profile is correct, next is to go through processes to update your profiles with other platforms including BVN, NIN, and the SIM Register. Once this is done, rest assured that you spend less than one minute linking your NIN to your Opay account.
Besides, there is the possibility of facing difficulties linking your NIN to your Opay account if you mistakenly supply your NIN TRACKING CODE instead of your NIN. Take note of this, and make sure your NIN is supplied and not the TRACKING CODE.
