Unknown gunmen Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have invaded the residence of the Chu Buh, Mr Mondeh Toma Chagga, and killed the police officer attached to the monarch and his rifle stolen.
The gunmen stormed the residence of the traditional ruler in Nakere, Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State in the late hours of Sunday, April 21.
The monarch was said to have escaped by whisker. His aide, Kefas Tari Shehu alongside his wife, Patience Tari, were kidnapped and whisked to an unknown location by the assailants.
A resident of the community who confirmed the incident said it occurred around 10:30 pm on Sunday.
He added that the Men of the Nigerian Military arrived in the Buh-speaking community after the assailants had fled.
The kidnappers reached out to the family on Monday morning and demanded a whopping N20 million ransom for their release.
Gunmen had invaded the community in February where they killed a youth leader, Tari Gbaja, and abducted two residents, a businessman and Mrs Tabitha Musa, the wife of Pastor Dauda Musa of the Christ-Elect Revival Mission.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel also confirmed the incident when contacted.
“It is true. The incident happened last night, and the command has launched an investigation into the case.
“Effort is ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act,” Nansel, said.
The community has witnessed a surge in kidnapping for ransom recently with a resident still in kidnappers' den as they insist on N50 million ransom.
