A primary school pupil in the North who opposed the motion “Voting Should Be Mandatory” during a debate is fast becoming an internet sensation. Likewise, his submission at the school's weekly interclass debate competition has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians.

In the course of his defense, the young boy called out President Bola Tinubu who he said cannot handle the country after winning the 2023 presidential election.

He said the president has thrown the country into untold hardship even with all his charisma.

The young pupil faulted the Senate’s lifestyle and budgets for flashy cars.

Noting that all Nigerian leaders should be bundled into one plane and made to crash land, the vocal young boy exclaimed: “Thunder… where are you, this is the time to strike our leaders.”

He also said making it mandatory for people to vote directly takes away the freedom of choice from people.

Although, members of the opposition party, People's Democratic Party (PDP), notably Senator Shehu Sani and PDP candidate in the last Kogi State governorship election, Senator Dino Melaye, celebrated the boy, encouraged and appreciated his wishes, however, concerned Nigeria expressed their fears for the future of the boy, and how, likely his teacher may jeopardize his future by training him to become a terrorist.

Reacting to the trending video clip, Dr. Yakubu Sani regretted the boy's actions. He said "At his age, whoever wrote this script for him isn't helping the boy. He will grow as a rebel.

"A primary school boy shouldn't be trained to call his leaders thieves, and so on. The use of thunder and the like is utterly unbecoming.

"I understand the instructors could be using the medium to unleash what's in their mind due to the pervasive hunger in the land.

"However, it's still wrong to use the boy as a scapegoat.

Adewale praises the boy's composure, however, he becomes worrisome at the boy's teacher who might have composed the script for him to read.

He said "Where was this energy under Buhari?

Melaye, Shehu Sani, commentators carrying the Labour Party logo, and others jointly declared his submission "impressive".
