A National leader of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Reno Omokri, has given a hint of a political party that may be responsible for an attack on the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Mr. Omokri gave the hint in one of the tweets submitted on his handle, @renoomokri.

It could be recalled that the INEC, during the presidential election result collation at the National Level, was unable to transmit election results as and when due. This raised political questions from the stakeholders concerned. Eventually, it led to the premature exit of the national Collation agents of both the PDP and the Labour Party from the National Collation Centre for the presidential election.

Days later, after the presidential election results have been announced, with Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) returned as the winner of the keenly contested poll, the Federal government of Nigeria thereafter gave the reason INEC refused to transmit the election results, right from the polling units.

According to the presidency, the INEC server was said to have been attacked over 12 million times by hackers. This frustrated the ingenuity of the content of the server.

Mr. Reno Omokri has, however, given a hint of a political party that could be responsible for the attack, considering the party that used robots to create dummy accounts on social media platforms. He also accused the suspected party of manipulating online polls in its favor.

He said "Amongst PDP, APC and Labour, who had capacity to attempt to hack INEC's server 12.9 million times during the #NigerianElections2023? Which party had been using Internet troll farms before the election? Who is notorious for rigging online polls and cyber-bullying?
