It was amazing but a reality that two Pastors in Africa had tied the Knott and began a new marital life. Most surprisingly, none of the two Pastors have been married in the past. This is their first wedding and they have been in a gay relationship for years.
A South African Anglican priest, John Maierepi, is officially married to his long-term Kenyan fiance, Pastor Paul Mwaura.
The development has generated mixed reactions from people online expressing their surprise.
Gay is generally seen among Africans as a taboo irrespective of religious belief, importantly, religious persons, most especially, priests are not expected to encourage or practice gay even though same-sex marriage is seen as marital liberation for people across the world.
Although Muslims across the world are still resolved against same-sex marriage, some Christian communities see nothing bad in the marital idea.
