Pardon Mmesoma and Lift the Ban on Her, Keyamo Begs Government

Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has begged the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to pardon Ejikeme Mmesoma who recently testified to deliberate manipulation of her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to a report recently submitted by the panel of inquiry constituted by the Anambra State Government, Mmesoma before the Principal of her School, Anglican Girls' Secondary School, confessed that she deliberately manipulated her result to claim the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME conducted by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Reacting to the finding by the panel of inquiry constituted by the Anambra State Government, the former Minister expressed how he deliberately excused himself from the imbroglio brought about by the Mmesoma's JAMB results saga and begged the government to pardon her and let the girl continue in her pursuit for admission into her choice of higher institution of learning.

Festus Keyamo suggested that Mmesoma so be compelled to apologize to her family, her school, Anambra State Government, JAMB, Federal Government of Nigeria and Nigerians for the unnecessary loggerheads she caused them in the time being.

Festus Keyamo said "I deliberately waited for the end of this investigation before commenting on this unfortunate case of our daughter, Mmesoma Ejikeme.

"She’s a brilliant girl, judging by her actual score of 249. The nation should be careful not to destroy her. What she needs is counselling, correction and guidance. She obviously did not know the weight and gravity of what she was doing. As teenagers, most of us made juvenile mistakes that never came to light.

"The parents should encourage her to do a public apology to JAMB, to her family and to Nigerians after which she should be allowed to get her admission based on her actual scores. Anyone still pushing other narratives over this issue is not helping her and her family.

"It is time to close this very unfortunate chapter and move on. This is my plea.

Recall that JAMB after establishing that Mmesoma lied to have scored 362 instead of 249 slammed her with three years ban from writing the exam, and withdrawal of her current result of 249, leaving Mmesoma to be unable to further her academic education until 2026.
