A Nigerian wigmaker, Helen Williams, has been recognized by the Guinness World Record as the sole producer of the longest wig in the world.
Helen created the world’s longest wig measuring 351.28 meters (1,152 ft and 5 in) long. Helen spent 11 days making the wig.
Although Helen was a long-time wig producer, producing between 50 and 300 wigs, weekly, she claimed it was hectic producing the world’s longest wig which cost her N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira only; £2,031; $2,493).
The overlay of the wig was made with wig-cap netting and black fabric attached to a bicycle helmet. Helen used 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hair spray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and 6,250 hair clips to make the world record-breaking wig.
Helen did not make noise about her mission which gained little to no social hype until she made what later became the longest handmade wig in the world.
Helen found it difficult to find a suitable place to lay the wig for measurement but later settled for the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway where the wig covered over 350 meters of linear space.
