Newly inaugurated Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo has nominated names of some of his cabinet members, this is unprecedented in the history of Nigerian Democratic governance.
The norms have been that it takes some newly inaugurated governors months and some up to a year before they put up their cabinet members. This is justified by many former and serving governors who have exhibited the habit of running their administration without the cabinet members, as a way of cutting the cost of governance.
Interestingly, Governor Ododo has mentioned the names of some members of his cabinet whose names will be transmitted to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Among the nominees who are likely going to occupy the Offices of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff and Commissioner positions in the state are names of those who served with the immediate past Governor of the State, Yahaya Bello.
These include the former SSG, Folashade Ayoade Arike, Kingsley Fanwo, and Deedat Salami Ozigi, among other aides appointed with immediate effect.
The appointments were contained in the inaugural speech of Governor Usman Ododo who defeated his arc rival, Muri Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dino Melaye of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and other governorship candidates in the recent governorship election conducted in the state.
