Ohanaeze Ndigbo A news publication by the Daily Trust has unveiled plans by the Igbo pan cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo threatening military coup in Nigeria if the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal fails to deliver truthful judgement.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo who had since made it known that candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi is their preferred candidate, had not desisted from regarding Peter Obi as the duly elected President of Nigeria, even the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared and inaugurated the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Recently, the PEPT has informed the parties at the tribunal that it will transmit a date to deliver Justice to them, and since this, some individuals and group who have interest in the case have been nervous about the outcome of the election.
According to the Daily Trust, a factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said the lack of adherence to the electronic transfer of election results from polling units to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) central server, known as IREV, further fueled their concerns.
In a statement, Isiguzoro said: “As Nigerians eagerly await the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), their expectations are high for an unbiased and uncompromised judgment.”
“Additionally, the interpretation of the constitutional requirement for a presidential candidate to win 25% of 2/3 of the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja is a crucial issue that the judiciary must address.
