Manchester United Set New Rules Ahead of 2024/2025 Football Season

Manchester United's minority stakeholder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has unveiled five major rules that will guide the club's football activities during the 2024/2025 football season.

Ratcliffe is the founder and majority owner of Ineos, a closely held chemicals manufacturer. Manchester United sold a 25 percent ownership stake to Jim Ratcliffe, the transaction that enabled Ratcliffe to take control of Football Operations in the club.

According to the newly released rules by Sir Ratcliffe, Manchester United will not sign any player younger than 25 years old.

The second rule holds that there will be no "galacticos", meaning Manchester United will not sign any expensive, superstar or any of the world-famous football players during the reign.

The third rule states that the style of play by Manchester United will no longer be determined by the manager but by the club's technical director, Jason Wilcox.

On the fourth spot, the club has finalized its players' recruitment style stating that the coach will only be asked about the positions he wants to sign, not the names of the players.

The fifth rule states that Ineos, Ratcliffe's team will send the names of three suggested players to be signed for the position requested by the manager for his approval.

The RoundTable Football Pundits have been considering the likely consequences of the rules 1 to 5 as unveiled by Sir Ratcliffe for Manchester United's 2024/2025 football campaign.

For instance, signing players above the age of 25 may deprive the team of catching excellent players, young. How old were Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and a couple of other distinct players around the world of football?

Ronaldo joined Manchester United in 2003 at 18 and rose to fame to become the most successful player to have played for the club in this football regime. He joined the likes of football legendaries like David Beckham, Pele, and Maradona and only Lionel Messi, another player signed by Barcelona at a teenage could match Ronaldo's performance inasmuch modern reign of football is concerned.

Is Manchester United aiming to become a team of average players considering what contents are held in the second rule which declared "no galacticos" in the club's signing, henceforth?

Real Madrid has been superb, hot, and successful since its President Florentino PĂ©rez commenced the "galacticos" in his first tenure between 2000 and 2006.

Perez would ensure his club, Real Madrid sign at least one galactico in the summer of every season and this has been paying off for the club. One would wonder if Manchester United is aiming to become a new form of Arsenal Football Club under the reign of its former manager, Arsene Wenger.

If there is synergy between the Technical Director and the manager, there won't be any problem with the third rule, however, rules 4 and 5 may come with consequences.

Arguably, Rule No. 4 is what has been costing Manchester United since the exit of Sir Alex Ferguson. When a manager demands a Ronaldo-quality player, and the management approves for him a Lukaku-quality player.

Sir Alex got precisely whatever he wanted and he was able to give results. However, there could be hope in resolving this depending on how far the 5th rule may assist in moderating the anticipated lapses with rule 4.

Definitely, there are going to be some gains from these rules as they will eradicate a situation where the manager would intend to go unnecessarily personal in signing some players who may actually not
worth the club's feeders team or look away from signing players whose presence in the club may bring the deserving results. What are your thoughts as either a Manchester United fan or a football fan?
