Again, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike met with his hostile successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State at the wake keep, one of the interment services of the late Group Chief Executive Officer (Group CEO) of the Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe.
Wigwe died in a helicopter crash, recently, in Nevada near California in the United States of America. He died alongside his wife, son, and business partner.
Wigwe's interment was attended by captains of industry, political bigwigs, and worthy personalities including Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike.
Wike and Fubara, recently, had a faceoff that nearly led to the impeachment of the latter but for the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who played a fatherly role in restoring peace to the political atmosphere of the state.
Although the two political bigwigs recently met at a meeting with President Tinubu where Vice President Kashim Shettima insisted Fubara must greet his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike, the duo met one-on-one, today, at the interment service of Wigwe.
Governor Fubara was seen exchanging a handshake with his former political benefactor, Wike, the moment that sparked vibrant reactions among concerned Nigerians.
Interestingly, while some residents eulogized Wike calling him the "Wike, the Lion himself" for accepting peace to reign and acknowledging Fubara's greeting, many people were furious at Wike's decision to sit down while exchanging pleasantry with Governor Fubara who was standing on his feet.
Someone said no former Rivers State Governor could try that with Wike when he was the Executive Governor of the state.
Throwing jabs at the moment a resident wrote what could have been in the minds of the two fighting political leaders with the scripts:
Fubara: Last last, you do humble.
Wike: I just day look you day laugh.
The interment services were attended by bigwigs including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Nyesom Wike, Rotimi Amaechi, Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun; Douye Diri of Bayelsa; Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State; Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos.
Other at the events are Mr. Peter Obi, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Ex-Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi among other dignitaries.
