Victims of Trafficker
The economic situation in Nigeria seems to have worsen the history of human trafficking in the country as citizens became more ruthless, sourcing for ways to meet their end means.

The developing worsening situation among Nigerian traffickers was disclosed by the founder of Cocreate Humanitarian Aid, Dr. Sarah Adeyinka, during the Sustainable Reintegration for Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings (SuReViTH) Stakeholders Roundtable Meeting with government agencies, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other stakeholders in Lagos on Thursday.

He expressed his worried at the number of Nigerians migrating out of the country, and the dangerous routes they take in their bid to escape the economic hardships facing the country.

He expressed dissatisfaction at some scenarios where family members sell their Nigerian relatives [blood-related] to Italians for a stipend cost of N30,000 (equivalent to about $20].

Blood-related family members including fathers, mothers, aunties, friends, cousins, and uncles were said to be involved in the selling of their close relatives at the stipend price of N30,000 in Italy.

Adeyinka said, “When I started, I was shocked by the numbers of Nigerians leaving the country through dangerous routes, the numbers being trafficked abroad, the violence they experienced.

“For a lot of them, there is no hope, they don’t know where to go, and one of the biggest shocks to me was family involvement; seeing the involvement of fathers, mothers, aunties, friends, cousins, and uncles. Sometimes we find that the person was only paid N30, 000 and they sell a family member and that was shocking,” he stated.
