Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised that he will personally visit the President of the country, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to report the devastating state of the economy of the country, and how the residents of the state currently wallow in abject poverty.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf stated this while meeting with the business communities in the state.
He acknowledged the poor state of the country's economy, and the hardships faced by the residents as the price of food items and other commodities kept increasing.
The Governor who also promised the business communities in the state to deploy means to cushion the effects of the economic hardships on the residents, said his team is working out plans to relieve the people.
“I’m going to personally report the devastating hunger and starvation, coupled with rising prices of essential commodities in Kano, with a view for the President to intervene and help bring succor to the people,” he said.
To cushion the economic hardships in Kano State, "One of the plans we are considering is the streamlining of tax collection to allow businesses thrive in Kano so that instead of every hour collectors are busy disturbing members of the business community, they should pay either monthly,” the governor said.
He said the rate at which the cost of foodstuff and other daily needs is rising was alarming, hence the urgent need to put heads together to find lasting solutions to the menace.
“The purpose of this gathering is to fine-tune modalities on how to address the menace of high inflation because people are really suffering and we need to do something about this.”
