How Pro-Atiku, Obi, Tinubus React to Supreme Court Judgment

Many Nigerians, political supporters, and sympathizers of the presidential candidates of the 2023 election in Nigeria have started submitting reactions to the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria on petitions brought before it by the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar; and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The Nigerian apex court dismissed the petitioners’ allegations and upheld the election which produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on February 25th, 2023.

Reacting to the judgment, President Bola Tinubu welcomed the court’s decision with a quote “There is no doubt, with the profound judgment of today, that our electoral jurisprudence and constitutional democracy are further consolidated and embedded more indelibly in our national identity because of the diligence and undaunted professionalism of the Honourable Justices who presided over the matter.”

President Tinubu encouraged his colleagues who contested the 2023 presidential election with him to recall that they are “all members of one household, and this moment demands that we continue to work and build our country together.” He also appreciated the citizens for the mandate given to him to serve as the President of the country.

Nothing built on fraud would ever last - Sowore



Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, reacting to President Tinubu’s call for unity to build the nation said “Nothing built on fraud would ever last.”

Peter Obi Will Never be Nigeria President – Reno Omokri



Former Senior Special Assistance to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Reno Omokri could not hold the step of his dance to celebrate the victory recorded by President Tinubu who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Reno Omokri had severally warned his party, PDP, and Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi before the election that they could never win the election against Bola Ahmed Tinubu if they contested separately but they refused to heed his advice with many supporters of Mr. Peter Obi calling him all sorts of unprintable names. He also warned the parties that they could never win the “Certificate Forgery” case they both initiated against Bola Tinubu because he had verified that the allegation of Tinubu’s certificate forgery was a deceit with “no evidence.”

Reno Omokri posted a 1-minute video clip, showing his dancing steps; in the same clip, he claimed he had never been abused as he experienced by Peter Obi’s political followers. He vows “Mr. Peter Obi will never become President of Nigeria.”

We don’t always go to court to win – Dele Momodu


Serial Presidential aspirant, writer, and founder of Ovation Magazine, Mr. Dele Momodu also joined the trend with a statement reading “The beauty of going to court by aggrieved parties is not always about winning but by deepening our democratic ideals and enriching our Legal System. What is left now is the academic exercise. The appellants have exercised their fundamental human rights and must be congratulated.” Mr. Dele Momodu stated.

Although he earlier claimed that there was suspicion of a double standard in the interpretation of the constitution.

“Constitutional requirement is always sacrosanct… You can’t enforce it in one and ignore it in the other…,” Dele Momodu stated.

Religious war is over – E’Rufai



Mohammed Bello El’Rufai, son of the immediate former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State who, himself, is a current member of the House of Representatives stated that the judgment has put an end to “religious war,” citing the candidacy of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi who did everything to make the 2023 presidential election a “Muslim vs Christian” political warfare.

Supreme Court has failed Nigerians - PDP



The main opposition party, PDP, has also reacted to the Supreme Court judgment saying the “Supreme Court has failed Nigerians.”

According to a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Hon Debo Ologunagba, “the judgment by the Supreme Court has shaken the confidence of Nigerians in the judiciary especially the Supreme Court as the last hope of the common man.”

Tinubu is not my President -Aisha Yesufu



Aisha Yesufu, one of the major mobilizers for Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Labour Party reacted to the judgment with a treasonable statement “Let me repeat, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not my President.” In a previous statement, she recognized Mr. Peter Obi as her President.

“Time for the statement of account of Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign Account to be made public by the Presidential candidate (who happens to be my President),” Aisha Yesufu stated.

Nigeria is now a crime scene - Ude



Jackson Ude, an investigative journalist and big fan of Mr. Peter Obi stated “Nigeria is now a confirmed crime scene and should be urgently barricaded!” Ude was reacting to the Labour Party’s petitions which were all dismissed for lacking merits under 120 seconds, the fastest ever.

Atiku, Peter Obi still voiceless



Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party; and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar have not released personal remarks on the Supreme Court judgment as of the time of filling this report.
