He Must Follow the Rule or There is No Peace, Wike Insists

Wike vs Fubara
Nyesom Wike
The former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has insisted that the incumbent Governor of the State, Siminalayi Fubara, violated a rule that he must obey before peace could return to the political relationship he has with the Governor.

Wike states this while receiving the chiefs and traditional ruler Ogbaland in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State who were led by, Nwachukwu Nnam-Obi III, the traditional ruler of the town.

Although the traditional ruler of Ogbaland sued for peace and appeased Wike to give room for reconciliation with the Governor, the appeal was accepted by Wike but with a clause that Governor Fubara was elected on an existing rule within his political camp, and the rule could not be eradicated and still expect peace. He therefore stated that the governor must allow the rule.

Wike, however, warns politicians to desist from betraying their benefactors once they get to office, he said the betrayed benefactors will never be there again for them when they will never be there again for them, the benefactors may be graciously needed.

Wike also debunked the rumor that the political imbroglio in Rivers State is an ethnic crisis. He said ethnicity was never the basis on which the governorship election that brought in Fubara was conducted.

At the meeting with the traditional council of Ogbaland on Saturday, Nyesom Wike said “Don’t pull the ladder that you use in climbing. When you are coming down, the ladder may not be there.

“And leave the ladder too so that other people can also climb the ladder.”

“We didn’t vote based on ethnicity…but for the unity of Rivers. We shall never be part of violence but will always support peace.

“There are rules within the political group you emerge.

“You cannot say that because an Oba has emerged, and then an Oba will not follow the rules of the traditional institution. No; an Oba will always obey the rules. So also in politics, there are things you must not do, and there are things you must do.”
