The executive Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has spoken on the arrest of a citizen of his state, Nnamdi Chude, by the International Police.
Exonerating himself from the arrest, Governor Soludo said he just received a message from the State Commissioner of Police today, which briefed about the arrest. He said Chude was said to have been arrested by the Interpol for cyber crime related offense.
Although, some citizens of the country have alleged online that Chude was arrested for political purpose, Governor Soludo said the Commissioner of Police did not relate his arrest to politics.
Governor Soludo said "The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command has confirmed to me, that one Mr Nnamdi Chude was arrested yesterday (18/03/23) in Anambra by the Cyber Crime Unit of Interpol and taken to Abuja today (19/03/23).
"The Anambra State Government has no information about the specific allegations or basis of his arrest," the Governor stated.
Early before his arrest, Chude has posted series of tweets against Governor Soludo with allegations that the Governor sponsored thugs for ballot snatching.
His tweets read:
"#Breaking: APGA thugs are on rampage in Trans-Nkisi, 3’3 & Awada snatching ballot box.
LP is winning comfortably across Anambra
I can't remember the last time I heard of ballot box snatching in Anambra. this is the height of it.
@CCSoludo has taken us back to Mbadinauju’s era."
"Na vex I take vote Ellu P today!
Sad that Voter turnout today is quite low compared to the presidential election, people have lost faith in the process. Nigerians giveup easliy.
Hello @CCSoludo be ready to welcome 100℅ Ellu P House of Assembly members🤭
#NigeriaDecides2023"
In a separate tweet, Mr. Chude might have attempted treason when he addressed Mr. Peter Obi as the President-elect.
He wrote "The President-elect, HE Mr. Peter Obi, and his wife Mrs. Margaret Obi, just cast their vote for the HOA election in their hometown, Amatutu, Agulu Anambra state."
