Nasarawa State Governor Sule Abdullahi has launched the Nasarawa State Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, NSCCTP.

According to the Governor, the program is aimed at eradicating poverty and cushioning the harsh economic hardships that residents of the state faced in recent times.

Recall that many residents of Nigeria complain of economic hardships and difficulty in meeting end means as a result of incessant hikes in prices of food items and essential commodities in the market.

Many residents blamed the economic hardships on the recent removal of oil subsidies and floatation of the Naira against the dollar even though The Round Table believes the economic hardships are a result of economic sabotage by some Nigerians who are fueled by political reasons and those that directly benefit from the removed oil subsidies and the old foreign exchange.

At the flag-off of the NSCCTP, Governor Sule shared seven thousand naira (N7000) to 6,000 indigent persons drawn from all the electoral wards of the state.

"The cash transfer scheme is one of the initiatives of Nasarawa State Social Intervention Office popularly called Kudi A.A. Sule under the supervision of the Nasarawa State Social Investment Agency," the state government stated.

Speaking further about the cash transfer, the Nasarawa State Government stated that the monthly cash transfer to beneficiaries will last for 24 months.

The 6,000 beneficiaries received payments for two months (N14,000) each at the launch of the new phase today.

The Governor believes this will go a long way in cushioning the economic hardships facing the vulnerable members of the public in Nasarawa State.
