Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had banned all government officials in the state from embarking on state-sponsored traveling out of the state.
The Governor said the state will not be responsible for the traveling allowance, transportation cost, and other expenses incurred by any government officials, including elected, political office holders and Civil Servants in the state.
The directive affected all Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Adamawa State.
The directive is set to take effect from April 1st and will last for three months before it will be reviewed by the state government.
Governor Fintiri, however, stated that a waiver would be given to government officials whose traveling out of the state becomes a necessity but the approval must come from his desk, the Executive Governor of the state.
The directive released by Governor Fintiri, yesterday, stated "This is to inform all MDA's that His Excellency The Executive Governor of Adamawa State. Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has directed that from the 1st of April, 2024 no government official is allowed to travel outside the State using government funds unless the trip is absolutely necessary and must be cleared by His Excellency, the executive governor.
"Be informed that the above is for your noting and immediate compliance and will apply for the next 3 months in the first instance.
Residents and concerned Nigerians have hailed Governor Fintiri's decision as they claim it will save public funds, mostly, amidst the economic hardship hitting the country.
