The revolution taking place in the sport of football seems to be ongoing as the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) concludes plans to introduce the Blue Card to football as part of the Sin-Bin Trials.
The Blue Card rule is set to be unveiled on Friday, February 9th, 2024, the Telegraph claimed.
Interestingly, the introduction of the Blue Card to the football rule base will surely bring change to the protocols being observed on a football pitch.
With the new invention, a player will be removed from the field for 10 minutes if he receives a blue card from the Referee.
Two major offenses by the players have been highlighted to attract Blue Card; one, if a player commits a cynical foul, or if a player shows dissent towards a match official.
Further explanation shows that a player who receives two blue cards or a combination of a blue card and a yellow card in a match will be equivalent to a red card, and the player will be permanently removed from the field and go through the full punishment laid down for a direct red card. However, the explanation has not clarified if there will still be double yellow cards or not.
The new protocol will limit the new card to fouls that prevent a promising attack plus dissent, as explained.
As the trial starts on Friday, top-tier matches in the professional leagues are said to be excluded from the experiment, although some of the elite matches may still go through the revolution in summer, depending on the results gathered from experiments with the amateur and low-tier game.
