Zacharia Barnabas (currently missing) Pastor Olayinka Samuel of the Kingdom of Glory Church, Lagos, has been accused of having hands in the predicament of a missing drummer of the church, Zacharia Barnabas.
The 23-year-old Barnabas was said to have gone missing on October 21, 2023, after attending a church program.
According to Barnabas's sister, Janet, Pastor Olayinka has been obstructing the family's attempt to find Barnabas even though he was last seen in the church.
She told journalists that "Despite reporting the case to the police by the family, Pastor Olayinka has obstructed their involvement, claiming that Barnabas is a cultist, even though he is allowed to beat drum for the church.
Janet told the journalists, “He [Barnabas] had been robbed of his phone earlier, so we could not reach him directly. He was supposed to return on the 10th. But he called my mom with someone’s phone who is also a worker in the church to inform her that he wouldn’t come home until the next day. That was the last time we heard from him.
“The case was reported to the police station in Igando. The officer claimed the pastor said the police shouldn’t come for an investigation until a particular day when his members would be around. When the family went to the church, the pastor started screaming that we were disturbing his service.”
Barnabas's brother, Israel, also indicted Pastor Olayinka for labeling their brother to stop the investigation into his whereabouts.
He said, “It’s been over two months now, and we have not seen Barnabas. We want the government to help us compel the pastor to tell us where Barnabas is because it was in his care that we last heard from him.”
Debunking the allegations, Pastor Olayinka said he is ignorant of the Drummer's whereabouts and his subsequent activities although he agreed Barnabas attended the Church's bible study on October 10, 2023, and left the church premises after the session.
However, Barnabas's family begged the government to assist and prevail on Pastor Olayinka to allow the Nigeria Police Force to do their job in unveiling the whereabouts of Barnabas
