Hon Femi Gbajabiamila President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Olugbemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff.
Olufemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila CFR was born on 25th June, 1962. He is a trained Nigerian lawyer and politician, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gbajabiamila emerged as Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2019 and he has been continuously elected as member House of Representatives, representing Surulere I Federal Constituency, Lagos State since 2003.
Hon. (rt) Femi Gbajabiamila was reelected as member of the House of Representatives for the sixth times on February 25th, 2023.
He has been a member of the progressive parties consistently as member of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gbajabiamila attended Mainland Preparatory School for elementary education and Igbobi College in 1973, where he completed his secondary education.
He attended King William's College on the Isle of Man, United Kingdom for his A-Level and University of Lagos for Bachelor of Law Degree in 1983 and was called to bar in 1984.
Femi Gbajabiamila was involved in corruption allegations after passing the 2021 national budget. A report by the People's Gazette alleged that Femi Gbajabiamila and other legislators were involved in bribery allegations of about $10 million which was said to have been organized by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva and Akwa Ibom North-East Senator Bassey Albert Akpan with between $1.5 million and $2 million going to both Gbajabiamila and Senate President Ahmad Lawan in the bribery breakdown.
He was awarded Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) by former President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2022.
Since 1999, Femi Gbajabiamila will be the seventh Chief of Staff that have served five presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the time frame.
