Edo APC Governorship Aspirant, Agba, Rejects Primary Results, Heads to Appeal
Prince Clem Ikanade Agba
One of the aspirants for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, has rejected the result of the governorship primary conducted by the party in Edo State, today.

The governorship primary conducted by the APC national committee in Benin City produced Hon. Denis Idahosa, a serving member of the House of Representatives, as the governorship candidate of the party in the September election.

Rejecting the result of the primary, Prince Clem Agba alleged that the primary was married with a series of irregularities, including disenfranchisement of the party loyalists from taking part in the primary election.

Prince Agba noted that the conduct of the primary election fell below the minimum standard. He, therefore, vowed to contest the result of the primary at the Appeal Committee set up by the party.

A statement released by Prince Agba where he unveiled a resolution to appeal the primary election read:

"To my good people of Edo state and esteemed members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, I want to thank you for your loyalty and support for my candidature.

"Unfortunately what we have all witnessed in the APC party primaries in Edo State on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 falls below the minimum standard of democratic elections that is universally acceptable.

"I believe strongly that thousands of loyal party members were disenfranchised. Based on the authentic turnout we clinched victory. The result so far announced is a ridicule and undermines the principles of democracy and fair play.

"We will proceed speedily within the guidelines laid down by our party to seek justice.

"Our resolve is unbreakable, and our commitment unwavering. We will not rest until justice is served and the people's will is honored.
