The administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has restated its decision to sack three monarchs in Osun State as a permanent and irreversible one.
Governor Adeleke who spoke through his media aide, Olawale Rasheed, vowed that the decision made by the state government as contained in a white paper released on Thursday, January 18, 2024, is irreversible and the thrones of Ọwá of Igbajo, Aare of Iree, and Alawo of Awo remain vacant.
The statement was released to clarify a claim that the state government was considering withdrawal of the white paper which has been heavily criticized by opinion moulders because there are existing court litigations about the Obaship tussle.
The statement released by Olawale Rasheed read: “The attention of the Media Department of the Osun State Governor has been drawn to fake news about the government going back on the decisions contained in a White Paper on chieftaincy matter released yesterday.
“The purveyor of falsehood credited the factually incorrect claim to the spokesperson for the Osun State Governor. There is no truth in the report and it should be regarded as the handiwork of beneficiaries of illegality perpetrated by the previous administration.
“We want to reiterate that the government stands by the decision of the White Paper and urge the public to discountenance any report to the contrary. I did not at any time make or issue any statement credited to me. The public should disregard it entirely.
“Mr Governor appreciates the warm reception of the outcome which is premised on due process, rule of law, and customs and tradition of the people.”
Many opinion moulders have condemned Governor Adeleke of running a vendetta government by abusing court of law which is yet to decide in the Obaship cases which Ademola Adeleke had decided on.
