The Nigeria Customs Service Ogun II Area Command has recorded an unprecedented increase of N9,260,033,178.55, in revenue from January to May 2023.

This was made known by the Ag. Customs Area Controller in charge of the Command, DC Ahmadu Shuaibu at the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

DC Shuaibu indicated an increase of 25.44 percent when compared to what the Command realised in the corresponding period of 2021.

The Ag. Area Controller explained that the remarkable increase accrued from January to May 2023 is the first of its kind in the history of Ogun II Command.

He said “In a bid to promote factories’ compliance with government policies on payment of Excise Duties, the command prioritized constant stakeholders' engagement.

“The command has also ensured efficiency in service performance by promoting Customs officers' working conditions and prioritizing training and sensitization programs,” DC Shuaibu noted.

According to him, the Ogun II Command is responsible for Excise and Free Trade zone monitoring. Statistically, the Command has 57 excise factories within its area of responsibility; but only 36 are in full production, while 11 are under documentation, even as the remaining 10 are moribund.

He noted that the Command has two Free Trade zones, which are; Guandong free trade zone located at Ibesa, and Ceeplas at Sagamu.
