Nigerians reacted differently to a Facebook criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by his ally and strongest political opponent who was the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku had condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for embarking on a private visit to Paris, France when the country faced insecurity.
Atiku said "Tinubu is playing fiddle while Nigeria is drowning in the ocean of insecurity. Imagine that the Commander-in-Chief is on a so-called private visit while kidnappers kill a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90m ransom and two monarchs in Ekiti, among other regular tragedies besetting Nigerians. If the shoes are too big for Emilokan, he should step aside. Nigeria does not need another Tourist-in-Chief. The country needs 24/7 leadership to confront the pervasive insecurity and collapsing economy."
Although some Nigerians are in support of Atiku's criticism, many Nigerians challenged the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to stop condemning the President as he was asked to suggest a solution to the problem facing Nigeria if he is a better option.
Some of the fellow citizens who asked Atiku Abubakar to prove himself worthy of being considered for the Office of the President challenged him to come up with a solution to one or two of the identified problems facing the country. Below are some of the selected replies to Atiku's criticism:
Olawale Opeyemi Olajide: Easier said than done 👍 anyways you are doing and saying what we want to hear but it will be good as a stateman to come up with a solution beyond criticism we need solution, sir
Olamilekan Olawale: You're all the same.... he's much more better than you
Sweet Prince Innocent: Even if you were the President, it will still happen because all of you are the same
Jeremiah Edu: We will not leave this country for northern people no one is that northerners always need power and they don't know how to use it why only you people
Hezekiah Durkwa: You have spoken well sir I suggest all leaders irrespective of political parties should join heads with the president and bring a lasting solution to the problem of this country God bless you, sir
Rabiu Alabelewe: Constructive and candid opposition is allowed, sir. As u put forward your narratives sticking to them will not help rather, come up with a solution as your own contribution to this administration's development plans
Ododo Mohammed: To crown your criticism as progressive kindly proffer a solution to one or two issues bordering our security and economy sir. Talk is cheap
Ibrahim Suleman: Stop playing to the gallery! You were once a Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. What did you do then? You used your position to amass wealth for yourself. The money you embezzled is part of the reasons for insecurity today.
