Anthony Joshua Nigeria-born boxer, Anthony Joshua marks his return to action with a unanimous decision victory over Jermaine Franklin, the judges scoring it 118-111, 117-111, 117-111 in favor of the former two-time world champion, Anthony Joshua.
Celebrating Anthony Joshua's victory, elder statesmen in Nigeria, including President Muhammadu Buhari; President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, First runner-up at the recently conducted presidential election, Atiku Abubakar have joined other Nigerian and global fans of Anthony Joshua in sending good wishes to him.
President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his congratulatory message to Anthony Joshua attributed his victory to strong determination and perseverance.
He said that Nigeria is proud of Joshua for his excellent performance.
In his congratulatory message, Atiku Abubakar said Anthony Joshua'a victory could not be disconnected from his hard work, dedication, and skill as he encouraged him to keep shining.
President of the country, Muhammadu Buhari said that he "celebrates Anthony Joshua’s victory over a formidable opponent. Speaking further that his victory has demonstrated that through hard work, dedication, discipline, persistence, and humility, those who dare do win.
President Buhari prays that this will be a stepping stone to one of the greatest comebacks in boxing history for Anthony Joshua.
Anthony Joshua welcomes Fury fight
Anthony Joshua has expressed readiness to engage in a bigger fight with Tyson Fury. He said it is left to Fur to honor his call to fight. He said:
"I try and provide for the fans, I know who the fans want - who do the fans want? They said Fury, yeah? The ball is in his court, I would be honored to compete for the WBC Championship of the world.
"Wherever you are if you're listening you know my manager, you know where we are. We aren't getting any younger.
"I can't wait to get the next big fight.
