Bangladesh Opens Mosque for Transgender, Crossdressers
Bangladesh Mosque of Transgenders
Bangladesh authority has opened a special mosque for the crossdressers in the country under the aegis of Bangladesh's Transgender Hijra Community, allowing them to perform Muslim daily prayers in congregation.

Transgenders in Bangladesh had faced severe scenarios at the hands of regular Muslims, who have been preventing them from joining congregations for Muslim prayers in the country.

Bangladesh's Transgender Hijra Community mosque is located in Mymensingh, North of the capital city of the country, Dhaka.

Dakshin Char Kalibari Masjid now gives transgenders in Bangladesh to observe their daily prayers without facing decriminalization from regular Muslims.

Reacting to the development, a leader of Bangladesh's Transgender Hijra Community, Joyita Tonu, said "No one can deny a hijra from praying in our mosque anymore.”

Chief Imam of the Transgender community, Abdul Motaleb, was happy his members can now worship "like every other one."

Transgenders are individuals whose gender identity is different from the sex they were assigned at birth.
