Rauf Aregbesola Former Osun State Governor and a former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has been dragged for allegedly violating state policy while disclosing his attendance at a Ramadan Lecture in Iwo, the Senatorial headquarters of Osun West Senatorial District.
Aregbesola, on his Facebook timeline, wrote "Today, I had the privilege of attending the 11th Annual Ramadan Lecture organized by Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, centered around the theme: "Righteousness is the Fruit of Worship." The event was held in Iwo, in the State of Osun.
Some residents of the state raised concern about Aregbesola's choice of addressing the state as "State of Osun" after the nomenclature has been changed to "Osun State" by the current Osun State House of Assembly members, widely populated by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which Aregbesola worked for during the last election.
Aregbesola, during his tenure as the Executive Governor of Osun State, changed Osun State's nomenclature to the State of Osun. The decision led to statewide controversy as PDP stalwarts in the State took the administration to court.
The complainant later won the case and the decision of the court was ratified by the current Osun State House of Assembly, eradicating "State of State" nomenclature and upholding "Osun State".
Dragging the former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola for sticking to the State of Osun rather than what the constituted authority under the administration of the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke upheld in policy, some residents reminded the former Governor that the nomenclature which he boasts on to be his legacy has been eradicated by Governor Adeleke's administration who he worked for during the last election in Osun State.
One of the remarks to the Facebook post read "Mentioning State of Osun is not by mistake but intentional but now left for the law enforcement agencies to do right things to the writer
Another commentator said, "Ogbeni the nomenclature has changed, it's no longer, for now, the State of Osun but Osun State if by God's will your loyalist becomes the governor of Osun State tomorrow maybe it'll change to your preferred name called the State of Osun but as at today respect the constituted authority by Calling our dear state; Osun State.
