The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has suspended the service of Bola Alabi, who was the Chief Protocol to the ailing Governor of the State, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Aiyedatiwa who made the decision, yesterday, transferred all the mandates saddled with the Office of the Chief Protocol to the Governor, formerly enjoyed by Bola Alabi to the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Olusegun Omojuwa.
The suspension of Bola Alabi was contained in a circular titled "Preparation of the acting governor’s engagements," which was pasted on the boards of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies within the state.
The circular, however, did not sack Bola Alabi but he would have no service in the administration of Ondo State Government until the ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu returns from his medical leave.
The circular reads “The acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has directed me to inform all members of the State Executive Council and top government functionaries that the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor will be responsible for the preparation and signing of his official engagements for the time being.
“The Chief of Protocol (Mr. Bola Alabi) will take charge of this responsibility as soon as Mr Governor resumes from his medical vacation.
“Kindly take note for your guidance and co-operation from time to time
The decision to suspend Bola Alabi may not be unconnected to the political imbroglio that rocked Ondo State before Aiyedatiwa was elevated to the position of Acting Governor of the State following Governor Rotimi Akeredolu's ill-health.
