19-yrs Old Nigerian Guy Married Two Wives Same Day A 19-year-old Nigerian Guy, Tasiu Waziri Alkaleri, reportedly got wedded to two ladies, simultaneously, on the same day.
The uncommon wedding took place in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, according to a source, Alhaji Lawal Humaid who is himself a journalist.
Polygamy is not uncommon in Nigeria, arguably it is a tradition in the core Northern part of the country as permitted by the prominent Islamic religion that dominates the region. However, marrying more than one wife in a day is a rare marital event in the country of over 200 million people.
What is close to this strange wedding event is a mass wedding where many couples are tied together in the same gathering. This wedding is between many one-man to one-woman couples and it is predominantly a sponsored wedding, mostly, by the state government.
It predominantly occurs in the core Northern parts of Nigeria, and it helps to reduce the number of unmarried men and women, who are usually divorcees. This wedding is usually by matching but it has never experienced what Alkaleri did, having a man wedding two wives in a day.
