Nkereuwen Monday Ekpo Akwa Ibom Police Command has arrested a young man simply identified as Nkereuwen Monday Ekpo for murder.
Ekpo was accused of deliberately hacking his grandfather to death after which he absconded with her money.
Ekpo lured the 90-year-old grandmother to death in his attempt to steal his money amounted to N16,750 with no trace.
The Akwa Ibom state police command launched a manhunt on Ekpo immediately after it received a distress call from the family, and was arrested on Monday, March 18th at his hideout.
Police authorities in the state have remanded the arrested suspect and vowed to charge him in court for murder.
Reacting to the pathetic news, some residents suggested that the illicit act committed by Ekpo could have been influenced by the intake of hard substances including Nkpuru Nmiri, an illicit substance that is popularly being taken by youths in the Southeastern and South Southern parts of Nigeria.
