Amina Rashidi It was a mixed moment of fear and happiness as Amina Rashidi, a woman from Tanzania who was believed to have drowned in a boat mishap that occurred in 2003 returned home alive with no scratch.
Amina's return was institutionalized by a resident of the Mwanza region of Tanzania who identified her when he traveled to another region of the country during his daily business activity in 2022.
Unfortunately, the family kept observing Amina and, after two years of critical watching, the family has been able to confirm she is still the Aminat they claimed had died twenty years ago.
After the identity of Amina was confirmed, two years after her return to the family, her first son, Abubakar could not withhold his joy.
Although family and friends of Aminat had done her burial when she claimed to have died about twenty years ago, the family threw another party to celebrate her return, having observed her since 2022 to confirm her identity.
Interestingly, the narrative given by Aminat about her speculated death was quite different from the claim by her family.
Although the family had claimed that she was involved in a boat accident in 2003 and had died, Aminat claimed that she did not die in the boat accident but instead embarked on a journey with two other individuals, a man, and another woman.
Upon reaching their destination, Amina claimed to have gotten married and become pregnant. Sadly, she recounted how her child was allegedly taken away from her, adding another layer of tragedy to her already remarkable tale.
“Tulisafiri kwa njia ya basi tukiwa watatu, wanawake wawili na mwanamume mmoja,” she explained in the local language.
Amina, who left three children behind when she was presumed dead, claims to have given birth to two more children in Mwanza.
