A Nigerian based in the United Kingdom, Dr Dipo Awojide has implored Nigerians wishing to relocate to the United Kingdom to plan well before leaving the country. Awojide, emphatically spoke on intending travellers who may want to travel to the UK with their family or those on the study tour to plan, extraordinarily, for their visit to the UK so that they won't be disappointed.
Awojide said "I am begging you to please plan well before you come and study in the UK, especially if you have a family. Save some money, have a safety net, speak to those who are here, and get the true picture before you take that leap. Note, I am not discouraging you.
Corroborating Awojide's advice, another Nigerian based in Worcester, UK, Carew Otinu said "accommodation is one of the major issues here in Worcester. Most landlords are only renting to students without families. The conditions are almost impossible to meet. Like, get a guarantor who is a homeowner earning above 30k pounds! It's very difficult for people with families.
Akin Bunmi, another Nigerian abroad recalled that "Having my business running and doing well before I left Nigeria has been the greatest thing I have done for myself and my family otherwise, life would have been so difficult. I don’t want to imagine. Even though running a business from afar is quite challenging.
Recounting the ordeal of his family who recently travelled abroad, Olamilekan said "My wife's sister and her husband is facing this same issue, but at least they are there and they will survive it. I prefer to face the challenge there than the one I am facing here.
