Shehu Sani, a Nigerian politician and human rights activist, believes that female Corps members deserve a higher monthly stipend of N100,000 because they face more challenges.
This statement was made in response to the increase in the allowance of NYSC to N77,000 by the President Bola Tinubu-led government.
In a post on Thursday, Sani wrote; “The increase in the allowance of the Youth Corpers to 77k is commendable. But those of the Female Corpers should have been jerked up to 100k since they suffer more”.

Sani’s advocacy for a higher stipend for female Corpers highlights the need for greater indorse and recognition of the unique difficulties they face.
As a former senator and chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Sani has been a vocal cheer for social justice and human rights. His stance on this issue reflects his commitment to promoting equality and fairness, particularly for vulnerable groups.
While some may argue that increasing the minimum wage could lead to inflation, Sani’s perspective emphasises the importance of ensuring that workers, especially female Corpers, receive a living wage that allows them to meet their basic needs.
This concern is particularly relevant in Nigeria, where the cost of living continues to rise.
