David Adeleke aka Davido For some people who did not now how he rose to the famous state he is currently occupying, Nigerian popular songwriter, singer and popstar, David Adeleke who is popularly known as Davido has revealed his ordeal in the hands of his father, Dr. Deji Adeleke when he was nurturing his passion for music.
Deji Adeleke's passion was to have his son, David graduated from the university, and probably begin to make name among the academics but the choice of David was to be in the studio or singing at shows, the mission Dr. Deji probably saw as futureless.
Revealing to the journalists in an interview with the Hot 97 FM in the New York City, the leader of the 30 Billion Gang revealed that his father would not stop sending police to arrest him and every other backstage member until he graduated from the university.
Davido revealed that anytime his dad, Dr. Deji Adeleke passed by anywhere his billboards are mounted to perform along with other artists, his dad would take note of the date and the venue, and later send police to the place to arrest him, his collaborators (other artists), the promoter of the show and every member of the backstage. He said this always happened when he was still in the school because his dad wanted him to face his education, squarely.
In his words, Davido told Hot 97 FM in the New York that:
"My father didn't want me performing, at all. He sent police to get me. Like he'll see a billboard for example, ‘Davido performing, Wizkid performing’. He would send police to arrest everybody, the show promoter, if you’re there, if we're backstage and we're chatting it up, we're gone."
