University Students Killed, Many Hospitalized As Nasarawa Palliative Ends in Panic

At least four students of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, have been confirmed dead with many others injured as the government palliative ends in the stampede.

Students were matching one another at the campus venue where the palliative items were being shared.

Confirming the incident, Ibrahim Addra, the Chief Press Secretary to Nasarawa State Governor Sule Abdullahi expressed sorrow over the sad occurrence.

He said, “Governor Sule deeply regrets the tragic death of two students of the institution in this needless stampede motivated by crime.”

Recall that the Round Table recently reported that its administration will share two units of 7.5kg bags of rice and N5,000 to each student in both the high school and higher institutions in Nasarawa State.

The Round Table learned that about 800 students were targeted at the distribution venue located on the Nasarawa State University Keffi campus before it ended in the stampede.

Some residents were skeptical blaming the sad end of the palliative program on the school management and the Students Union Government while many others blamed the University students for failure to coordinate themselves.

The students who survived the stampede with injury are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center, Keffi.
