There is pandemonium all over the country, as citizens find it difficult to complete their daily transactions and get many things done, successfully, because of the scarcity of the new Naira notes.
The new development has unsettled some stakeholders within the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and this has influenced the recent meeting between some elected APC governors and President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock, Abuja.
Considerably, there have been alarms from some sections of the populace on what could be the primary aim of the APC governors, for showing extraordinary opposition against the new naira policy.
Although, there may be diverse speculations on why the APC governors are patronizing the president to revisit the new naira policy, there are two major reasons that would be hard for anyone to dispute and this would probably be the pathway that anyone may decide to also tow, if we are to be in the shoes of the APC governors.
It is the political responsibility of the elected governors to ensure wellbeing and good welfare of the citizens of their states. This could be considered as the foremost reason behind the visitation paid to President Buhari by the APC governors, regarding the new naira policy.
Yeah, it could be thought of that only APC governors have visited the President as if the new naira policy is not affecting citizens in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled states. This is justifiable because the new naira policy is an implementation of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Of which APC is the ruling oarty, hence all the hardships that have been inflicted on the masses would surely be transferred to the ruling party, APC at the various levels.
Hopefully, this is the reason APC governors have taken their times to iron out the issues with the President, so as not to tarnish the image and chances of the party before the electorates, especially, when the elections remains just a few days.
So, the utmost concern of the APC governors is to ensure that the people are not instigated against their party, ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Second, as the Chief Security Officers of their respective states, it is the duty of APC governors to prevent reoccurrence of anything that lead to break down of laws and orderliness in their respective states.
Like one of the governors said, recently, and like what is happening in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo, State, the new aura policy if not carefully revisited, it may lead to civil unrest as citizens face more severe hardship as a cause of the policy.
No reasonable governor will seat back and watch a situation like the Endsars civil unrest to reoccur in his state. This is surely a reason that might have influenced the meeting being held between APC governors and the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
