Bola Ahmed Tinubu Although there is a section of the amended version of the 1999 Constitution that mandate a Governor or President to set up his Executive cabinet within 60 days or risk being impeached, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not appoint a minister until July 2023.
There are two reasons responsible for the suggested refusal of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to set up his Executive cabinet before July, one of which may even cause him to refuse to set up the ministerial cabinet for more than two months, if not for constitutional provisions.
One of the two reasons President Tinubu may not appoint a minister before July is that the National Assembly has gone on recess, and they will not be reconvening until July 2023.
Ministerial positions are so critical that the appointees would need to pass through screening by the National Assembly. So, without a running National Assembly, there is no how a President can appoint a minister except the Assembly is summoned to an emergency session.
Secondly, a source revealed to the Round Table that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not willing to set up his ministerial cabinet until the nation recovers the economic woos that it founds itself.
Although this may be considered to be against the constitutional provisions, the source boasted that President Tinubu hopes the economy will be reset before his 60 days in Office.
