Jim Obazee President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has appreciated the special investigator, Jim Obazee, employed by his administration to critically assess the conduct of the Central Bank of Nigeria over the past few years.
President Tinubu, while commending the special investigator, Obazee, stated that security agencies are already working on the reports submitted by the Obazee-led special investigation team.
Mr. President commended Obazee for the dedication and professionalism he exercised in handling the complexities of this critical national assignment.
Obazee-led special investigation team was appointed by the president on July 28, 2023, and many shocking revelations have been made about the activities of the CBN, and its subsidiaries involving high-ranking personalities and former Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele.
Ajuru Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Publicity, said "After the conclusion of the assignment and the submission of a final comprehensive report, and with the winding up of all apparatuses used during the scope of the task which terminated on March 31, 2024, the investigation is formally closed, with all appropriate law enforcement and regulatory agencies already conducting follow-up action.
"The President thanks Mr. Obazee for answering the call of duty while wishing him success in his future endeavorsAttentionntions shifted to the Central Bank of Nigeria when the former Governor of the bank, Emefiele, was caught in economic manipulation leading to hardships during the last presidential election, all to deny the presidential ambition of Tinubu who later advanced to win the keenly contested election with a narrow margin.
