Lucky Aiyedatiwa The acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji; Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Oladunni Odu, and the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ade Adetimehin, and some other APC Leaders in Ondo state have been summoned to a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not revealed, the Vanguard reported it will be held today, Monday, December 18th, 2023.
The Round Table believes the meeting must have been summoned by the President to iron out political issues bothering the state before it escalates to unbearable conditions.
Recall that the Round Table reported, recently after a meeting was held to finalize an agreement before Aiyedatiwa was announced as Acting Governor of Ondo state, that Aiyedatiwa has been made to enter an agreement that he would not reshuffle the Executive cabinet of the state, and must not tamper with the Local Government administration of the state. To strengthen the agreement, Aiyedatiwa was made to sign his preempted "Resignation Letter" which is kept with the President and will be tendered against him if he persistently deviates from the points in the agreement. The purpose of this is to safeguard the interest of the two warring sides in the state which include the side of the ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa's camp.
However, the recent political development from Ondo State seems to be portraying Aiyedatiwa to have been deviating from the agreement.
Recall that the Round Table also reported that Acting Governor Aiyedatiwa, recently, deactivated one of the dearest aides to the ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a few days after he was sworn in as the Acting Governor of the State.
Besides, there is speculation that the Acting Governor of Ondo State, Aiyedatiwa has frozen the account of all the Local Government Areas in the state. Although this has been debunked by some sectors in the state if it happens to be true, it means a worrisome deviation from the agreement Aiyedatiwa entered with the party leaders from the state in the presence of President Bola Tinubu and other APC national leaders including the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje.
