The Only Edge Wike Has Above Fubara Amidst Rivers Crisis
Nyesom Wike
Almost a week into the political restiveness rocking the Rivers State political space, one would wonder what the end of the tunnel may hold for either of the two men in the political imbroglio.

Undoubtedly, the recent political developments in Rivers State are a product of the political misunderstanding between the Governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara, and his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike, even though there may be external factors to this.

However, no matter the end of the political struggle, one of these two men must have something to lose or gain. Although Sim Fubara, as the Chief Security Officer of Rivers State, seemingly has enough resources to back his stance in the political imbroglio the former Governor of the State, and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has some edges ahead of Fubara.

People of Power

No such political development will be settled without inputs from who we call "people of power". Who are these people?

People of power are human beings who are at the helm of affairs at the three arms of government across the three tiers of government.

We talk about their Lord Justices in the Judiciary; Executive cabinet members in the Presidency, neighboring states, strategic local government administrations, and lawmakers at both federal and state levels.

Anyone can argue it but Wike, even if he doesn't have the support of some of these people at the inception, they will choose to align with him at the final stage of taking any decision bearing in mind "if in the same political environment where they operate, Fubara could mess up with his boss within months of getting to power, it would be better they give their support to Wike so they won't end up collecting the same prize from Fubara after helping him out."

Actions and Accuracy

Political crises like this required deployments of strategic action plans either to curb a development from the opposing camp or to set the opposing camp disarrayed. However, the Deployment of strategic action plans in this scenario is effectively a subject of "accuracy" in timing, implementations, and management of the likely consequences that may fire back.

You can argue this but it is a reality that Nyesom Wike is not new to this scenario, as he has fought former Governor Rotimi Amaechi while he was just a minister as he is currently, and Amaechi was [then] a sitting Governor.

Don't forget, Fubara was all through his former political biography a "Yes Sir Yes Sir" political accountant. Even, if Fubara is going to deploy political tactics to shield his seat, it would be the implementation of pieces of advice from the likes of Rotimi Amaechi who was defeated as a sitting Governor by the same Minister Wike or Peter Obi who could not deploy political tactics to safe himself from being the most "impeached State Governor" in Nigeria. Pathetically, the same Obi could not save himself from his lawmakers who crossed the border to have him defeated from the soil of Asaba, Delta State.

And painstakingly, some people may want to say Peter Obi was reinstated, but don't forget we have talked about the judiciary when we consider "People of Power".

Also, if anyone stands to doubt the hands of Peter Obi in Rivers Crisis, that person should be ready to tell us why Nyesom Wike of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) was condemned for meeting with Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Rivers State Labour Party governorship candidate in the last election could meet with Fubara, and offered political support while Peter Obi, their leader is keeping quiet like he was unaware.

Stakeholders in Rivers

Stakeholders in Rivers will surely divide across the Wike vs Fubara political rancor, however, whoever has the maximum support stands the chance of winning the race.

Can we ask ourselves if Fubara can singlehandedly hold firm to a local government structure of the PDP without loophole, lest we talk about a Rivers State with 23 to 24 Local Government Areas?

We are talking about a crisis that involves 24 Local Government Areas, 32 State House of Assembly members, 13 Federal House of Representatives Constituencies, and Three Senatorial Districts in the political pace while the influence from stakeholders of both formal and informal sectors in the state on this crisis remain sacrosanct to who wins the battle.

How many of these influencers can give their support to Governor Fubara?

Although Governor Fubara may escape from being impeached, he may not win his second term election as these stakeholders will rise and work against him.
