Supreme Court of Nigeria The Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed Thursday, December 21st, 2023 for the heading of the appeal case filed by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his party New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) against the judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on the March 18 Governorship election that took place in the state.
Recall that the Court of Appeal has upheld the Tribunal judgment sacking Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf with the declaration of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna as the duly elected Governor of the State.
The Supreme Court has served the parties in the case the date for the hearing, a development that has heightened the feelings of the people of the state who are graciously awaiting the Supreme Court judgment with uncertainty.
Recall that the Appeal Court judgment delivered concerning the Kano State Governorship petition became dramatic at a point when the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment differed from the oral judgment delivered by the Judges in the courtroom.
This dissimilarity in the CTC and oral judgment, as delivered by their Lord Justices, and its peculiarity to the history of the justice system in Nigeria added to the fears that filled the minds of the people.
Recall that early today, the Round Table reported that the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdulsalam, threatened that Nigeria will go Aflame if the Supreme Court attempts to subvert the will of the people of Kano by sacking his master, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
