Chinese Pneumonia Barely a year after countries across the world are recuperating from the menace of COVID-19, a deadly disease that broke out in China, another life-threatening disease outbreak from the same country.
The new disease has been described as strange by international countries, and the World Health Organization (WHO) even though Chinese authorities insisted the disease is the normal seasonal respiratory disease in the country.
The WHO last month requested information on the outbreak, then held a teleconference with Chinese authorities in which Chinese officials said the pneumonia was caused by a common bacteria, mycoplasma, as well as seasonal viruses, including respiratory syncytial virus, adenovirus and, and the flu.
China's protection of its health data and the inability of the WHO to sanction the country has increasingly raised tensions among some senators in the United States of America who have written to President Joe Biden to restrict travel from and to China.
According to Politico, five Republican senators, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott of Florida, J.D. Vance of Ohio, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, and Mike Braun of India, said that they didn’t trust the WHO or the Chinese.
In their letter to President Joe Biden, they insisted “A ban on travel now could save our country from death, lockdowns, mandates, and further outbreaks later.”
After the breakdown of COVID-19 in China, it spread across the world and countries were forced into lockdown for several months, devastating the economic activities of many countries which most of the countries still battle, presently.
The latest disease outbreak in China is said to be pneumonia by the Chinese authorities. It affects the children and blocks their respiratory system although China did not release enough data to know the level of the casualties among the children.
