The suspended Nigerian Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu has arrived at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for interrogation.
Betta Edu was invited following an allegation of financial misappropriation of over N585 million meant for the alleviation of poverty among citizens in Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Cross Rivers, and Ogun State.
Although there has been speculation of financial misappropriation in the ministry since it was created by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Even though former President Muhammadu refused to shed light on the activities of the ministry, President Bola Tinubu suspended the accused Minister to allow her to face the allegation that was leveled against her. She was the first minister to be suspended by the Nigerian president in recent times.
